The Terms and Conditions

As you can imagine, this is a blog about Runescape. This is a blog for newbies, those seeking a nostalgia rush, or those interested in simply mocking the nerd that decided to create a blog about video game adventures.

This is Potam!

This is Potam!

I first heard about Runescape in a chatroom through a certain bit of software I use to “share” music. I never really looked into it until my junior year of high school when a couple of my guy friends were all like “have you heard of Runescape?” Yadda-yadda-yadda, we ended up having a few gaming sessions that would extend into the wee hours of the morning. (This was also enhanced by our use of Skype at the same time. For those interested in group gaming I highly suggest the Skype ‘n’ ‘Scape method as your preferred method of communication.)  Runescape is the reason I game so much even now. It’s great for those who haven’t mastered the Call of Duty controls. If you’re anything like me, those games are still terrifying. If you’re not like me, then Runescape can still benefit you in the way any mindless task would. Seriously, it’s like if Skyrim and Minecraft had a baby it would be Runescape.

That was five years ago. Runescape has evolved immensely with updates adding tutorial extras, better graphics, and longer/cheesier cut scenes. Starting March 2013, there is a site based on the layout from 2007 so if you’d like to play a more “vintage” game then sign up here. It’s still free, for the time being and it’s still just as “delightfully outdated” as my friend, Matt, would say.

This blog, however, is going to be played on the more modernized edition (which is also free). I created a character: Potam (I got the name from the little CAPTCHA when I signed in).  Everyday I will post something about the adventures Potam had, the quests she went on, the levels she gained, the people she met, the works. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, snide remarks, etc. feel free to express them. If you’d like Potam to try a quest or if you have any pointers that might make things move along faster please share! Personally, I know the shortcuts to get through these quests a little faster (i.e. the Grand Exchange). For those who don’t know what the Grand Exchange is, I’ll explain in a later post when Potam journeys there. However, I plan on working through the game the way any beginning who doesn’t know the cheats might do. (Sidenote: there are no cheats in Runescape. Do NOT download anything that even suggests a Runescape cheat. It’s fake. Stay away, far away.) Also, if I use any Runescape “lingo” I’ll try to define it for you but if you have any questions, please ask.

Fair warning, I am a member and will be doing things in the p2p (pay-to-play) and in the f2p (free-to-play) boundaries; I’ll be sure to mention where I am and when I cross the border from one to the other.

All you need is a username, a password and (if you don’t feel like paying for a membership) you get 10,000 hours of free play time.

Hopefully I’ll see you out there. Have fun! Take chances! Pwn n00bs (take advantage of new players)! Good luck.
